CATF Founder opens up community dialogue



[April, 2008] Shepherdstown, West Virginia–The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) has been in Shepherdstown since 1991, producing and developing new American theater and encouraging people to “thinktheater.” During each season, CATF offers a number of events related to the festival, including Under the Tent lectures, post-show discussions, the CATF Actors Lab, visual arts, and staged readings. This year, CATF has enhanced their season by adding TalkTheater, an opportunity to sit down with the visionary behind CATF, Ed Herendeen.

“Our local theater lovers have been asking for this kind of opportunity for years,” stated Peggy McKowen, Associate Producing Director for CATF. “We are so pleased that we can finally accommodate this request and offer this supplement to our 2008 season.” TalkTheater will allow theater-goers, or those who are just curious about CATF, to engage in a lively discussion about the plays and to learn more about the thought processes behind the festival.

TalkTheater will be held Sunday’s in July beginning at 10:00 am in the new Center for Contemporary Arts. The cost is $20 per person, which includes continental breakfast.
