"Pay What You Can" Previews of Contemporary American Theater Festival's 2008 Season

For 18 years, the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) has produced and developed new American theater, never shying from controversial topics and striving to initiate dialogue within the community. Opening Night for the 2008 Season is July 11, but you can preview the plays on July 9 and 10.
The Overwhelming - A gripping story by J.T. Rogers of an American family newly arrived in Kigali, Rwanda on the eve of the 1994 genocide. Preview on Wednesday, July 9 at 8:00 pm in the Frank Center.
Pig Farm - From Greg Kotis, Tony-winning writer of the hit musical satire Urinetown, comes a cliché-skewering comedy about Big Farming where men are men, women are women, and pigs are everywhere. Preview on Thursday, July 10 at 8:00 pm in the Frank Center.
Stick Fly - Funny and deeply passionate, Chicago writer Lydia R. Diamond’s play is a probing family drama and an up-to-the-minute consideration of privilege and perception. Preview on Thursday, July 10 at 8:30 pm in the Studio Theater.
A View of the Harbor - CATF favorite Richard Dresser concludes his Happiness Trilogy with this offbeat look at Maine’s flaky upper crust. Preview on Wednesday, July 9 at 8:30 pm in the Studio Theater.
WRECKS - From Neil LaBute, the reigning Bad Boy of the American theater, comes a mischievous monologue about a grieving widower and the wife he’s just lost. Preview on Thursday, July 10 at 5:30 pm in the Studio Theater.
The 2008 CATF season runs from July 9 through August 3, with five daring plays in rotating repertory, under the tent lectures, post-show discussions and more. Since 1991, CATF has produced 63 new plays, including 23 world premieres.
