Prop Shop Manager
Working with the Scenic Designer and managing a department including Carpenter, Artisan and Intern, the Props Manager will meet all needs for the 4 productions that CATF stages each year, though purchasing, construction, borrowing, renting, etc. Props manager will assign tasks to crew, track progress, set and maintain deadlines, attend production meetings, and generally make sure the props needs of all four shows are met during the build period. This position is not part of run crew, is part of the change over crew, is part of the maintenance crew and is part of the strike crew. This position is responsible for cleaning, organizing, and adding new props from the season to the prop storage facilities.
Job Requirements
-Must be able to maintain a budget using a declining balance spreadsheet or similar
-Must be able to work comfortably on an 8’ Stepladder
-Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds
-Must have a minimum of 2 years experience with Photoshop or GIMP
-Must have a minimum of 3 years of Props experience or similar skills, at least one as a shop manager
CATF uses Window’s XP Pro or Vista Pro PC’s. Employees of CATF are expected to be competent in the use of standard Microsoft programs (Windows, Excel, Word, Explorer, Media Player) Specific Departments may require skills in different programs. CATF does not offer support of Macintosh Computers or Mac operating systems or Linux based PC’s. Employees using these computers are welcome to bring their own, but there will be no on site tech support for them, and all company work done on them must be able to interface with company PC’s.
Prop Shop Carpenter
Working with the Prop Shop Manager and Scenic Designer, Artisan and Intern, the Props Carpenter will meet all needs for the 4 productions that CATF stages each year, though purchasing, construction, borrowing, renting, etc. Props carpenter will build needed elements as needed and assigned by the Prop Shop Manager This position is part of run crew, is part of the change over crew, is part of the maintenance crew and is part of the strike crew. This position is responsible for assisting in cleaning, organizing, and adding new props from the season to the prop storage facilities. While this position is primarily responsible for the built elements of the show, this position will assist the Props Manager and Props Artisan to finish the total props needs of the season.

-Must have basic power and hand tool ability’s
-Must posses skills in basic theatrical construction techniques
-Must be able to work comfortably on an 8’ Stepladder
-Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds
-Should have an understanding of Photoshop or GIMP
-Should be able to handle basic welding and metalworking

Working with the Prop Shop Manager and Scenic Designer, Carpenter and Intern, the Props Artisan will meet all needs for the 4 productions that CATF stages each year, though purchasing, construction, borrowing, renting, etc. Props Artisan will build needed elements as needed and assigned by the Prop Shop Manager. This position will focus on paper props and soft goods. This position is part of run crew, is part of the change over crew, is part of the maintenance crew and is part of the strike crew. This position is responsible for assisting in cleaning, organizing, and adding new props from the season to the prop storage facilities. While this position is primarily responsible for the built elements of the show, this position will assist the Props Manager and Props Carpenter to finish the total props needs of the season.
